| Tiny Mite Black | - vs - | Bedford Red | Tie | 0 to 0 | At: | Preston Field |
|
Tiny Mite Black under the direction of Coach Tevepaugh had a great opening game with the first Cardinal TD of 2010 being scored early! I'm sure we are going to see a lot more from this team as they continue to work hard.

| Tiny Mite Red | - vs - | Bedford Silver | Tie | 0 to 0 | At: | Bedford High School |

Tiny Mite Red must have some mean Defense because they didn't allow a single point to be scored by Bedford Silver. I bet Coach Parzych was very proud of the way they all played!

| Mitey Mite | - vs - | Bedford Red | Win | ----- | At: | Preston Field |
|
Mitey Mites came up the big with a very solid win over Bedford Red. They seemed to be able to move the ball up and down the field and score at will which tells me that the offensive line must be some of the strongest football players in all of Merrimack! And let's not forget to mention that they only let up one TD in all four quarters of play. Thanks Mitey Mites, Coach Lanigan & Crew for giving Cardinals Nation our first of hopefully many victories to come in 2010.

| Jr Peewee | - vs - | Bedford Red | Loss | 7 to 14 | At: | Preston Field |
|
JPW played in an epic battle and in the end came only inches short..literally! Bedford Red took their first possession down the field and scored to take an early 7-0 lead but right then and there our Cardinals said "NO MORE!" They not only went on to keep them out of the end zone for the rest of the game but had the determination to not give up on offense either and put the ball in to tie things up at 7-7 in the 4th. In OT, Bedford scored first to take the lead and when it came to our possession we came just short from breaking the plain. Congratulations for putting up a great fight JPW's, let's cheer even louder for them and Coach Joseph next week.

| Peewee | - vs - | Bedford Red | Loss | 0 to 26 | At: | Bedford High School |

As for the Peewee's, you've heard of the "Thrilla in Manilla" well this was the "Baking in Bedford"! It wouldn't surprise me if temperatures reached 120 degrees down on the field and Coach Mailloux melted off several more pounds! As they tried to put into action everything that they've been working hard on, it took some time and a whole bunch of water but by the 4th quarter things were starting to click and we were moving the ball offensively. Let's chalk this one up as another of the many learning lessons football teaches us and the harsh conditions we sometimes battle through. It wouldn't surprise me to see this group put a whomping on Kingswood in two weeks!

The second round closes (last chance to order) is midnight Sept 5th!!!
Update: 8/29/10 - Closing of Second Order added
It includes general information on both the Football and Spirit programs along with the code of conduct for the partcipants, coaches and parents.
The Board of Directors of the Merrimack Cardinals would like to welcome you to the 2010 season of the Cardinal Football/Spirit Program. This year marks the 37th anniversary of the Cardinals Program.
The Cardinals' proud tradition dates back to 1973. Both the cheerleading and football teams have won many honors and championships at the state, regional, and national levels.
While winning is one of the goals of the Program, it is not the only or the most important goal. The Cardinals Program encourages academic excellence and endeavors to develop self-discipline, personal fitness, teamwork, concentration, leadership, and good sportsmanship. Each year, many Cardinals receive program-wide and league-wide recognition of academic achievement.
The money necessary to run the Merrimack Cardinals Program is derived from registration fees (31%), Town funding (16%), and fundraising efforts (53%) by program volunteers. We make every effort to keep the amount of fundraising required of the participants to a minimum and place that responsibility with the adults in the organization. Last year, the organization raised $30,000 through various events and we were able to replace much of our older pads and equipment for our football participants, as well as send our spirit squads to two "fun" competitions.
Our 2010 fundraising goal is 40,000. We hope to raise this money through corporate sponsorships ($5,000), "Kickoff" BBQ ($2,500), 50/50 raffles on game days ($1,500), our goods table ($5,000), our concession stand ($20,000), and several program wide fundraisers throughout the year. .
Because the Cardinals Program relies on the income from sales of Cardinals apparel (also available for purchase online!) and the concession stand to keep its registration costs down, the Program prohibits the solicitation and sales of similar products and materials by Cardinals participants and their parents/caregivers. The cooperation and assistance of all parents or caregivers in this effort is greatly appreciated and necessary to adequately fund this Program.
We hope that the information contained in this parent handbook is a helpful guide. However, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact a Board member (See About Us - > Board).
Together with your support and participation, we hope that the 2010 season is the best season ever for the players, cheerleaders, parents, friends, and the Cardinals Program as a whole. We look forward to working with you to create a successful and enjoyable 2010 season!
