Each year the Cardinals coaches and staff collect participants' grades reviewing each one looking for those football players and cheerleaders who have maintained a grade in the 90 percentile or above.

Those names are then submitted to the New Hampshire Youth Football and Spirit Conference (NHYFSC) for consideration by the Academic Achievement Awards Committee.

For the 2006 Season, the Merrimack Cardinals had 40 Academic Award Certificate recipients.
